HiveCheck is a cutting-edge mobile application designed to revolutionize beekeeping with smart technology. Featuring a clear and intuitive user interface, the app is accessible in 20 languages, making it a truly global tool for beekeepers. Powered by advanced image recognition algorithms, it enables precise and efficient beehive inspections, helping beekeepers assess hive health with ease. Its robust online data processing capabilities provide instant, unlimited inspection reports, ensuring beekeepers have real-time insights into their colonies. Whether you're a beginner or an expert, HiveCheck empowers you to maintain healthy, thriving beehives effortlessly.
How It Works
Take photos of key areas in your beehive—such as the front and frames—during your inspection. If you suspect any pests like ants, Varroa mites, hive beetles, spiders, or wax moths, capture photos for analysis. These images will be used to assess hive health through the app.
To begin the health inspection, click on "Upload Hive Frame Photo" in the app. Then, select the photo you took in Step 1 to proceed with the analysis. Uploading the photo takes just a few seconds.
After uploading the photo, scroll horizontally to select your preferred language for the inspection report. Once you click on your chosen language button, the inspection process will begin, and the button's border will turn yellow. Generating the report takes just a few seconds. Ensure you are connected to the internet to receive the report successfully.
Once the inspection report is generated, scroll down to read the full analysis. The report is generally divided into three parts:
Positive and Negative Aspects – Evaluates the hive's condition based on the uploaded photo.
Potential Issues and Concerns – Identifies any risks or problems detected.
Management Recommendations – Provides expert guidance on how to improve hive health.
If needed, you can upload another beehive photo to generate a new inspection report.
Detection of suspected diseases
Here is an example of beehive disease detected by HiveCheck and confirmed by a professional beekeeper in his YouTube video.
Chalkbrood Disease Detection
Chalkbrood disease was detected by HiveCheck as a suspected disease and confirmed by a professional beekeeper in his YouTube video titled "Dealing with Bad Chalkbrood – The Darker Side of Beekeeping!". We tested the app by taking a close-up photo of the infected frame shown by the beekeeper, and the inspection report result matched his explanation.
